Every student I teach learns differently, so no two lessons look the same.

I have young students whose lessons are built around rhythm games and listening to music, because that’s where their confidence lives right now. I have creative kids who just want to jam — so we build technique through grooves and copying rather than drills. I also teach students who love structure, sheet music and clear goals, and we lean into reading, exercises and graded material because that’s what motivates them.

Some adults want to play songs as quickly as possible and understand how drums fit inside real music. Others enjoy digging into coordination and mechanics. Some students come in full of confidence, others are very self-critical and need lessons shaped around encouragement and small wins. All of those approaches are valid, and my job is to meet each person where they are.

The common thread is that lessons are always tailored. Whether you want to play songs, pass grades, jam, build confidence, or just enjoy making noise for an hour a week, the structure adapts to you. There isn’t one path through drumming — there are lots — and part of my role is helping you find the one that fits.
